School Trips

We have been building relationships and links with local schools in our area to allow school children access to our farm to experience various aspects of it and its other businesses in relation to a school project or curriculum topic that the pupils are studying or learning about. Recent primary school trips have been topics including world of work week, mini-beasts and pond dipping.

We provide a safe environment and relaxed atmosphere for school trips to be held.

If you are a school teacher, deputy head or head teacher based within Central Scotland and would like to set up a school trip we would like to hear from you.

A typical school trip would be 20-50 pupils that arrive by coach transport, split into groups with supervising teachers. Each group tours and visits different parts of the farm to experience a variety of items for 3-4 hrs including the health club, trout fishery, farm and equestrian centre, ponds, animals, etc. We have hundreds of possible experiences e.g. sitting on a quad bike, a pony ride taster, a fly fishing taster, sitting in a John Deere tractor, wildlife and history walks, picnics and using some gym equipment. At the end of the trips pupils receive a goodie bag with fruit, juice, sweets and leaflets about the activities available at Wellsfield Farm.

For a list of possible school trips and experiences for school children at Wellsfield Farm please contact us and we will send you an information pack.

Community Relations
We are involved in various community initiatives.

Local Environment
We were involved in the recent “Communities Along The River Carron Project”. This project resulted in two associations (CATCA and RCFMG) being formed and constituted with a huge list of recommendations for improving the entire River system.

Our current involvement in this project is as management committee member acting in an advisory capacity to improve the river in many aspects including tourism and leisure opportunities and also on environmental issues particularly related to migratory fish (salmon and sea trout) access, with the view to constructing a fish pass on the river to allow salmon and sea trout into areas of the river and its tributaries currently unavailable for breeding.

Local Economy
We have a strong interest and support the Denny Town Centre Regeneration Project. Once the Denny town regeneration is complete we will unvail many investment projects planned for Wellsfield Farm which will help the local tourism and leisure economy.

Heritage & Culture
We have been involved with our local Denny & Dunipace Heritage Society about the heritage of our area and about various artifacts and monuments found on the farm.

Education & Work Experience
We take part in School Work Experience Programmes and education placements.

Youth Carer Groups
We participate in various Falkirk Council and Stirling Council carer activity schemes for young teenagers and dependent children.

School Activity Days
We offer activity days for schools and can tailor individual packages to meet your requirements. We can cover any topic or range of topics including leisure activities, sports, education, history, wildlife and environmental topics.

Advisory and Training Days
We stage advisory days at Wellsfield Farm for different organisations. e.g. “The ABC&D of Farming Advisory Visit” – Agriculture, Biodiversity, Commerce and Diversification.
